The movie is surprisingly good. It is a must watch. The cinematography was quite well done. The gloomy colors of the environment and the lens flares gave a very depressing atmosphere. It didn't feel like an Indian movie at all. I loved the acting of all the characters. It felt natural for most them. The reveal at the end was nicely done. I didn't expect it. There are some things that could be improved but in the end it's not terrible.
!!SPOILERS!!
Things I personally liked:
I really loved how nuanced all the characters are. Everyone with their imperfections. It felt like the whole plot was a direct comparison to reality. The reveal that the child's mother was in the end the killer was, to be honest, slightly surprising... I feel like murder mystery movies tend to not make mothers/women the killers. And this movie changed that. And in the end we can't blame her. She had reasons and problems that came from her husband.
I loved the camera angles. They used stuff that we see in most Hollywood movies, and I think the people working behind the film should be appreciated as well.
The plot was very basic. But it kept us on our toes throughout the film. It also touches the dark problems that we face. Like covid 19, religious divisions, homophobia and addictions. The addition of the gay couple didn't feel much forced. (It did but it felt understandable for the plot to progress.) The story makes a person ponder on how all these issues affect us and how we all are suffering underneath.
Actors did I nice job. Kareenas acting was also great, she didn't need to say dialogs to convey the emotions which was a nice difference to movies we see nowadays. The side characters also did tremendous jobs. It felt realistic. They did good jobs.
Things I didn't like:
This is more of a personal opinion. But kareenas indian accent felt out of place. Maybe it's just me. But everyone had that distinct British accent when speaking in English. And she stuck out.
The story in the beginning progressed too fast. Some places they could have increased the scene, I think? The plot was also very, like, familiar. A kid dies, and now the troubled officer has to find the killer, but no one will believe them etc etc. It's seen before. But I'm not complaining... the movie is not bad. I liked it.
Some scenes didn't needed to be so long... some scenes should have been longer. It was going too fast sometimes and sometimes too slow. Could have been better?
