Using a heavy dose of psychoanalysis and reference to film, The Perverts Guide to Ideology successfully exposes how our culture, politics, and religion are all saturated with ideology. While I found the judgemental lens of psychoanalysis (an archaic "perverted" set of ideas that both sexualize and pathologize normal human experience) jarring at times, it paradoxically makes Zizek's point clearer. It's precisely by using this outdated framework that he successfully highlights the irony and absurdity of the systems that bind us. Think of it less as a documentary and more as a vivid and relatable video essay. The film's true success lies in its concluding demand: stop waiting for a world-ending event to magically solve our problems. Instead, we must take a practical and realistic approach to changing the societal systems that currently define us. A call out of psychoanalysis as inherently ideological would have been refreshing. Nonetheless, an interesting perspective that deserves a watch by anyone interested in political, cultural, and religious ideology with a heavy dose of film recommendations.

The first 3/4 is interesting enough to follow along, and then it just gets whack as fuck and everyone just starts murdering. It's not too hard to follow, but I hate that the female FBI agent is painted as a ditsy idiot. I actually really enjoyed it though, so whatevs.

I just don't even know how it got such good reviews. It was clearly using a sexy hook when most of the movie was childish and predictable mind games, and boring tennis. Disappointing. Still love Zendaya tho...

⚔️Do not take your children to see this movie⚔️ This was really hard to watch. The animal cruelty and mutilation felt so over the top that I forgot I was watching Guardians and just started to feel like I was watching a horror movie at one point, it was really surreal. I almost left as I was going to start crying to the point that it would have been difficult to hide from other audience members. The medical scenes with animals, especially with Rocket, were incredibly triggering. I would suggest anyone who has recently lost someone, especially if it is a pet in a clinical environment, do not watch this film. It was too triggering to enjoy, which makes me really sad in many ways, as I love this franchise, but I will never subject myself to this film again. I left the cinema feeling miserable, and then ended up crying on the way home once I got away from the crowds.
