Pam Bondi is out. Mike Lee is in? After President Donald Trump announced that he was firing Bondi as attorney general, rumors and reports began swirling about who could be the next pick to lead the U.S. Department of Justice.
“Pam Bondi is a Great American Patriot and a loyal friend, who faithfully served as my Attorney General over the past year,“ Trump wrote on social media when announcing Bondi was out at the Justice Department.
Trump, The New York Times reported, had grown frustrated with Bondi’s performance at the DOJ. Utah’s senior U.S. senator, Mike Lee — a Tea Party Republican who went from trying to stop the GOP from nominating Trump in 2016 to later comparing the impeached president to “Book of Mormon” hero Captain Moroni — is being floated by some as a potential attorney general pick.
