In 1983, The Police had a massive hit with “Every Breath You Take”. A multi-platinum hit, the song is written by Sting for Synchronicity, the band’s final album together. “I think it’s a nasty little song, really rather evil. It’s about jealousy and surveillance and ownership,” Sting says. Still, Sting understands why not everyone gets the real message in “Every Breath You Take”. “I think the ambiguity is intrinsic in the song, however you treat it, because the words are so sadistic,” Sting explains. “On one level, it’s a nice long song with the classic relative minor chords. And underneath, there’s this distasteful character talking about watching every move. On this day in 1962, Patsy Cline released the EP So Wrong/You’re Stronger Than Me. It was the final EP she issued before her death in March 1963. However, several extended plays, albums, and singles would be released after her death. The four-track release featured the title tracks on side A and covers of “Heartaches” and Hank Williams’ “Your Cheatin’ Heart” on the B-side. Cline released “So Wrong” as a single in July 1962. It peaked at No. 14 on the country chart and No. 85 on the Hot 100. It broke her streak of top 10 hits that began the previous year with “I Fall to Pieces,” which topped the country chart. The streak also included “Crazy,” “She’s Got You,” and “When I Get Thru with You (You’ll Love Me Too).” “So Wrong” wasn’t the final hit Cline released during her lifetime. 2026 was a special year for the Beach Boys. 60 years ago, the group released the popular album Pet Sounds. Often considered the pioneers of surf rock, the album featured iconic hits like “Wouldn’t It Be Nice.” While the band went on to record over a dozen more albums, Pet Sounds held a special place in the history of the Beach Boys. And wanting to celebrate that moment, the group planned to resume their tour on Thursday. But sadly, just a few hours before taking the stage, the band canceled the show.
