Stephen Colbert’s canceled “Late Show” is going out with its biggest Emmy showing yet, securing nine nominations despite being canceled months ago.
The outspoken Trump critic’s series is nominated for Outstanding Variety Series, along with eight other categories, the most since Colbert took over as host in 2015.
CBS hasn’t shown any signs of regret after pulling the plug in May, citing financial losses of $40 million a year, although Colbert and fans say the network gave him the boot for his constant criticism of President Trump.
