AI SEO - lack of content on the site is probably the biggest factor which is holding back so many medium size brands to get cited! All the sites which I've reviewed so far this month -> we've been spending on SEO before even ChatGPT but when I dig more into search console it's just the branded traffic (> 80% clicks from branded queries) SEO success was never filtered down to is the clicks coming from branded vs non-branded AND that lead to never thinking of right content strategy to rank for non-branded but relevant to the business topics. Not spending on right content strategy + of course content writing -> not much visibility in AI search surfaces! Remember these AI search systems are citing content -> if u don't even have content on the site to be cited -> u are not going to get cited 😄

Someone I know just closed $20M round. No conversations nothing and within just 3 weeks of meetings in NY and ROUND done for AI related startup! Would have never been possible pre ChatGPT era 😅 crazy times!!

After having so many SEO conversations over lunches/dinners with friends who are in-house SEOs in Enterprises! I think there should be a base layer of resources for SEO team which they shouldn't have to fight for?? So many in-house SEO teams are just spending like 30 hours to prepare a plan, deck, analysis ....... to present to CMO to get $5K budget for an AI SEO tool. Let's look at the numbers. 30 hours of SEO team time for the company can be worth anywhere from $10K to $15K or more (salaries + benefits + other things) So literally spent $10K of company's money to get $5K of company's money for buying an AI SEO tool. 😂😂 That's why I think there should be a base layer of defined resources for SEO team - development hours per month - per month content writing capacity - tooling (Semrush, AI SEO tooling or other things) There should be a defined base which includes these and anything above that should be something which SEO teams need to fight for. Scaling SEO ONLY offer has become somewhat of an uphill battle recently! Almost all the companies want to have AI content conversation rather than there being anything like what "SEO strategy" they should execute for long term growth. Even sizable companies are all ready to do churn & burn AI content scaling - churn & burn used to be a common thing in black hat SEO land and now even known brands are jumping into the same game with scaled AI content. Weird times if you want to scale SEO only offer which is based upon being reasonable around use of AI content and making sure that you are on the somewhat safe side with Google + ensuring long term search/other surfaces visibility rather than whole domain burning in 6 months 🙃

👀 weird that even sophisticated people from compute science background + have published papers in the top journals are now working on AI slop generators for #SEO space and raising millions! times truly have changed - people are even downplaying their own previous achievements in the AI hype cycle and looking for the lowest hanging fruits which mostly isn't what's going to stick around for the long term.

as an indie SEO AGENCY when I stand firm on the research + data + approach + roadmap that we present during pitches! People get surprised 👀 cuz they just assume that we'll be saying ONLY things that can convince them to close the deal ASAP the thing is with bigger agencies if anything with the campaign don't go right there are 10s of people to be blamed - SEO specialist didn't look through data or account manager missed on something or conversions/analytics team missed on making sure that form submissions are working properly but when you're indie SEO AGENCY there is no hiding and blaming -> so better we sell to the right businesses ONLY who are fully onboard with our approach first

businesses used to mess up domain changes (no proper redirects) or a site re-build (wrong canonicals or URL restructuring) now all of them mess up their sites by publishing pure AI content at scale times truly have changed in #SEO land 🙂
