Rolex just opened a boutique that most watch collectors will never physically stand in.
It sits inside the TITLIS Tower on Mount Titlis in the Swiss Alps, 3,020 metres above sea level, operated by Bucherer. There are no roads up here. Every material, every fitting, every piece of furniture arrived by cable car, and so does everyone who visits. Architect Jacques Herzog, whose firm extended the original 1980s telecoms tower into this glass-and-steel structure, put it best: the result feels more like a Bond villain's lair than a mountain hut.
Inside, it's all dark marble, warm timber and floor-to-ceiling glass looking straight out onto the glacier. A 140-seat restaurant, an alpine lounge, and a viewing deck with 360-degree views round out the build. As Bucherer's own team say it, the mountain sets the rules up here, and everyone else just learns to respect them.
