Less than 5% of Microsoft’s 450M commercial Microsoft 365 customers pay for Copilot. And among the users who do pay, only 20–30% reportedly open it weekly. That means Microsoft 365 Copilot’s weekly active footprint is close to 1% of the customer base. And now Microsoft 365 customers are getting price hikes, with more AI bundled into the bill whether they asked for it or not. Microsoft spent three years forcing Copilot into Windows, Office, Edge, Teams, Notepad, Paint, File Explorer, and even keyboards. So Copilot’s problem was never just availability, as Microsoft made it impossible to avoid.

Microsoft confirms Windows 11 has a nasty storage bug that can silently eat hundreds of GB from your C: drive. If Settings > Storage > System & reserved shows System files using 100GB, 200GB, or even 500GB, random downloads may not be the problem. A protected file called CapabilityAccessManager.db-wal can grow out of control, and it's found inside: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\CapabilityAccessManager$ This file is tied to Windows privacy/access logging for things like camera, microphone, location, and screen capture. Normally, it should be a few MB. On affected PCs, users have reported 70GB, 110GB, 200GB, and even 513GB. Microsoft quietly fixed it in KB5095093, saying the update “improves disk space usage” for this file. The fix should also arrive automatically with July 2026 Patch Tuesday.

Microsoft 365 just got more expensive, and Microsoft cites "continuous innovation" as one reason, but it's actually the AI tax. The price hike kicked in on July 1, 2026, across Business, Enterprise, Frontline, and Government suites. Personal and Education plans are not changing for now. Microsoft 365 F1 jumps 33%, from $2.25 to $3. F3 goes from $8 to $10. Some no-Teams plans rise even more, with F1 without Teams up 43%. Microsoft says customers are getting more security, Intune features, mailbox storage, Copilot Chat enhancements, and Security Copilot in some E5 plans. The company dubs it as continuous innovation, but let’s be honest. This is the AI bill we're paying, much like the increase in RAM prices.

Copilot OS, codenamed "Project Aion," drops the Start menu in favor of a Copilot launcher, but this project is most likely canceled at this point. A leak from 2024 shows off the Copilot OS, which is based on Microsoft Edge and runs web apps, similar to ChromeOS, but it's powered by agentic capabilities where apps are grouped based on goals. Because Aion is built around Edge, Copilot can crawl the DOM of websites instead of just looking at screenshots. It can spin up separate AI chat windows for different tasks, generate task-specific icons on the taskbar, pull Microsoft 365 Graph data through Context IQ, and group work into goal-based “Spaces.” But there’s a catch: it is mostly web-based, so Win32 apps need a Windows 365 Cloud PC handoff. This is probably canceled or buried now. And honestly, good.

Microsoft now wants you to believe 8GB RAM is fine for Windows 11, after years of pushing 16GB as the baseline A few months ago, Microsoft said 32GB was the “no worries” upgrade for Windows 11 gaming. Before that, it spent two years pushing Copilot+ PCs with 16GB RAM as the minimum for the future of Windows. Now Microsoft’s own Surface buying guide says 8GB RAM is “great” for everyday use like browsing, streaming, schoolwork, and productivity apps. That would be easier to accept if Windows 11 were light. It isn’t... at least not yet. Windows 11 is heavier than Windows 10. Microsoft Teams, WhatsApp, Discord, Outlook, Widgets, WebView2 apps, and background AI features all eat memory. And Microsoft is still talking about Copilot, agentic Windows, local AI, and AI PCs. 8GB makes sense on a cheap $599 device if the OS is optimized for it. It does not make sense on premium Windows 11 hardware in 2026.

Azure Linux 4.0 is now public, free to download, open-source, and maintained by Microsoft. But this is not Ubuntu, Mint, or Fedora for your laptop. Azure Linux is built for cloud workloads, Azure VMs, containers, Kubernetes, and enterprise infrastructure. This means it does not have a desktop or a GUI. It is just a hardened, minimal Linux base tuned for Azure. The technical stack is serious... Fedora 43 base, Linux 6.18 LTS, dnf5, glibc 2.42, systemd 258, Python 3.14 with JIT, OpenSSL 3.5 with post-quantum crypto support, and FIPS 140-3 certification in progress. Microsoft already uses it internally across Azure services, and LinkedIn and Databricks have moved massive workloads to it. It is an interesting move for Microsoft, as nobody really expected the company to build its own Linux distribution and ship it to the public.

Microsoft's new Outlook takes more than 10 seconds to open an email via notifications, while Outlook Classic opens instantly on Windows 11! The funniest part? If I ignore the notification, open Outlook manually, find the email myself, and click it, I can finish faster than the notification flow. It's all because Outlook for Windows is literally Microsoft Edge running Outlook .com in a browser window. New Outlook runs through WebView2 with around 10 separate processes: GPU process, service worker, utility processes, manager, and more. It uses roughly 490MB to 636MB RAM while idle, compared to Outlook Classic sitting around 117MB to 148MB. CPU usage is also worse: around 4% idle on new Outlook versus under 1% on Classic in my testing. Windows 11 June 2026 update, which was supposed to make PCs faster, is crashing some PCs with BSODs, breaking OneDrive integration in File Explorer and custom folder icons, and causing other problems. We're seeing reports that Windows 11 KB5094126 is causing boot failures on some PCs, mostly HP enterprise hardware. The worst reports involve BitLocker recovery loops, Black Screen of Death/BSOD failures, Secure Boot signature errors, and error 0xc0430001. Affected models appear to include HP EliteBook 840 G10, HP ProBook 460 G11, HP Engage One Pro G2 AiO POS, HP ZBook, and some Dell Precision systems. The likely trigger is Secure Boot certificate handling + EFI partition space. On older images with a 100MB EFI partition, Windows may fail to update Boot Manager because there isn’t enough space, especially on HP systems where firmware recovery files can bloat EFI. WhatsApp is the worst app on your Windows 11 PC right now, eating 1+ GB of RAM, doing nothing I tested it on low-end, mid-range, and high-end PCs, and the experience is bad everywhere. Before even logging in, WhatsApp was already touching 400MB RAM. After logging in and scrolling through chats, it jumped toward 1.2GB. Idle, it still holds around 600MB. The old native UWP WhatsApp used less than 100MB at idle and felt instant. The new app is basically web whatsapp com inside WebView2. It loads slowly, switches chats slowly, delays message sending, keeps running in the tray, and still gives worse notifications than the old app. Meta has 3 billion WhatsApp users. Windows has 1.6 billion users. There is no excuse for shipping a browser tab as a desktop app. If Meta can build native WhatsApp for macOS and even Apple Watch, it can build a proper native Windows app. Windows users deserve better than this slop!

Windows 11’s June 2026 Patch Tuesday update is out today, and the biggest change is Performance, not AI. Windows 11 KB5094126 finally brings Microsoft’s new Low Latency Profile to everyone. Microsoft calls it a “General Performance” improvement, but the idea is simple: when you open Start, Search, Action Center, or key shell experiences, Windows briefly pushes the CPU to max frequency for 1–3 seconds so the UI responds faster. I tested it earlier, and the difference is most obvious on budget PCs. Start feels snappier, Search opens faster, and those tiny Windows 11 micro-stutters are reduced. The catch: because of Microsoft’s Controlled Feature Rollout, installing today’s update does not guarantee it is enabled yet. You can verify it with HWiNFO by watching CPU frequency spikes while opening Start.

Microsoft is testing a Windows 11 file operation boost that could make bulk delete more than 30% faster. 30% is the baseline improvement, as the real number could go higher (or lower). This is part of a much bigger File Explorer push: faster launch, less flicker, fewer white flashes in dark mode, improved reliability, context menu cleanup, configurable right-click options, and lower memory usage.
