Another bald eagle is helping give Jackie a fighting chance ❤️‍🩹 The beloved Big Bear bald eagle has received a life-saving blood transfusion as veterinarians continue treating her for severe anemia. The transfusion was made possible by another bald eagle named Spirit, while wildlife specialists from multiple organizations worked together to provide advanced treatment. Jackie remains in critical condition, but wildlife experts say her kidney inflammation has improved, she's eating well, perching, and remains bright and strong. Veterinarians have ruled out several possible causes of her illness, including lead poisoning and foreign objects such as fishing hooks, but they're still working to determine what caused the anemia and say it's too early to predict the outcome.

Sink Frog chose the right house 🤭 When the little frog kept appearing in their sink, Brian and Cathy eventually learned he was an invasive Cuban tree frog and couldn't be released back outside. So instead, they built him the biggest terrarium they could find and gave him a permanent place to call home. These days, Sink Frog still visits the bathroom sinks — but now he has a home of his own, too.

With physical therapy, a custom wheelchair, and even a float so he could swim with his goose friends, Zeus slowly grew stronger until he was taking steps all on his own. Domino loved it from the very first night, but it took nearly two years before he finally felt safe enough to ask for affection. Researchers say there's still much to learn about sand cats, which are mostly active at night and spend much of the day hidden in burrows. Scientists may have underestimated one of nature's hardest-working engineers 🦫 Beavers aren't just shaping rivers and streams. New research suggests they're also thriving in tidal wetlands across the Pacific Northwest, where scientists had largely overlooked them. Published in Estuaries and Coasts, the study found that beaver dams in these tidal waterways are built differently than those in freshwater rivers. Rather than blocking flowing water, they appear to help trap water when the tide goes out, creating pools that may provide important refuge for fish, including threatened salmon. Scientists are now using GPS tags to better understand how the animals move through these wetlands, hoping the findings will help guide future restoration efforts and protect habitats that support a wide range of wildlife.
