How do you get your brand visible on Perplexity? Most "LLM visibility studies" will repeat the same old advice without any technical evidence. My method is different. 🤓 I open the network tab and read what Perplexity streams to my browser. Then I work backwards from the fields it exposes. FanoutFox is a free generative engine optimization (GEO) tool and ChatGPT rank tracker.
It reads your own ChatGPT session and shows the fan-out queries, the sources it fetched, who got cited, who got mentioned, and who beat you on each claim. Free, local, one click.
For the last 2 teardowns on my blog I worked out how ChatGPT picks its sources by reading its raw network traffic by hand.
It works, and it takes the better part of an afternoon per answer.
So I built the whole recipe into a Chrome extension.

Is your site sitting behind Cloudflare?

If yes, Go to Security -> Settings -> Configure AI bot policies

Under "Training" section make sure "Allow (do not block)" is selected.

Do this before 15th of September.

Why?

From this date onwards, If you have selected the block training option, Cloudflare will block multi-purpose crawlers (specifically those that combine Search with Training) such as Googlebot, Applebot, and BingBot.

This will destroy your SEO work.

Take action and pass this on to your devops/developers.

It tags every source as 1 of 4 pipelines, never touches the web on some questions, and on a pricing comparison it gave up on a vendor's JS loaded pricing page and cited a competitor instead.

Google shipped a standard for the thing I keep writing about here, making your website readable by AI agents. It is the Open Knowledge Format (OKF), and unlike most things Google ships, you can write one in a text editor.

It's plain underneath. A folder of markdown files, one per page, tagged with what each is and linked to the rest, so an agent gets your content and how it connects without scraping. Google introduced it on the Cloud blog and ships it inside Knowledge Catalog, so it carries real weight even at at version 0.1.

I built two free ways to make one.

1. A Free tool that turns any site into a bundle from its URL.
2. A Free WordPress plugin that does it in one click and keeps it in sync every time you publish.

This is not a magic mushroom and won't increase your AI visibility overnight.

Worth doing early, or just another file nobody reads? I lean early. Add it and let it compound.
