Ok, if you ask me how I much I liked this TV show on a basic level, then I'd say I enjoyed it and found it very emotional and beautiful, and would rate it 4 and a half stars. However, if you asked me on a more complex level, I'd give it maybe 2 and half, or 3 stars. While I found the animation gorgeous and the storyline fun, it was had a very predictable plot and hardly at all original
Miyo is a nineteen-year-old girl whose been abused by her family almost her entire life, mainly by her younger sister Kaya and her step-mother Kanoko. She is very meek, very timid, and has very low-self esteem. Though that is expected from all the years of abuse, it gives off the classic damsel-in-distress vibe, especially when Kiyoka (her future husband) swoops in and goes all heroic night-in-shining armour to save her. It's zero surprise when (SPOILER WARNING) she's part of one of the most magical bloodlines, the Usubas, and possess a very powerful ability after being mistaken talentless her entire life. If there's another season, I really hope she isn't written all helpless shy-girl coded and more of an independent feel to her.
Kiyoka Kudou is the male protagonist of the anime, and honestly, as soon as we were introduced to him, I already knew his character. Mysterious, powerful, overly-serious, slightly paranoid. It's pretty much every mystifying male lead ever. Not to mention he's 27, and his fiance is flipping 19. I know age-gap marriages was common back then, but still it gives off creepy vibes, especially since we hardly know ANYTHING about his background. Just some random brooding guy whose overly suspicious of deliciously cooked meals by his fiance.
Overall, you could say though this anime was fun to watch and emotionally captivating it was also unoriginal and sometimes could be a tad bit boring in terms of plotline and action scenes.
