I'm a 80s baby and I'm super proud of that era and I have always loved this movie! That movie was amazing to me and still is! Everything about it was Amazing! I remember when my stepdad let me take the movie to school with me and it had gotten lost. My stepdad was sooo angry at me about that and for years he asked me about it. He was a huge Michael Jackson fan and he loved the movie as well. I didn't look at it much as a musical. It was Art to me in my eyes growing up.
