This show is a compilation of tries to get on the moral high ground and failing every time.
Cue the Benny Hill theme song or Curb Your Enthusiasm.
One positive note: the CGI is better than the trailers.
Let's take a look at our "hero" Jennifer Walters aka She-Hulk.
Our hero starts her introduction by questioning the sexual history of one of our established heroes. (It's ok though, we're not stepping on any cultural values: he's a white male where there is no need respect his values on chastity). Could you imagine PG-13 in 2022 where we virgin shame a female character?
We're not done yet, our "hero" She-Hulk claims her life is harder than a man who has lost so much of his life due to his affliction... Because she gets catcalled and mansplained.
Remember in the original Avengers when Bruce Banner was on the run from the American government living in Indian slums? Remember when Bruce Banner explained his suicide attempt? It's ok if you forgot, the writers forgot too.
The writers do this awesome thing where they're so flippant on the affliction of the two personalities of the Hulk and Bruce Banner. Jennifer is so happy to have mastered her human personality in her hulk form from the start. She makes fun of Bruce for having this negative trait in his transformation. Shortly after, she complains how she doesn't want to be a superhero. Then she starts criticizing how his alter ego the Hulk is a disability and has ruined his life.
I'm really looking forward to a strong female lead. This ain't it.
Thanks for nothing Disney+, I'm Marveled out. I just cancelled my annual subscription, congrats, you played yourself.
