This movie was genuinely very charming, cute, and enjoyable. There were moments that genuinely made me laugh out loud, and most of the dialogue flows really well, the cast work great together and its very obvious they enjoyed themselves on set. The set design is very well done, the small town real world is very drab, but the overworld and nether look amazing, and they contrast each other extremely well to the point where i believe the small town was intentionally drab to make the minecraft world more exciting to the characters, but either way you can tell there was a lot of love put into the production. Itโs silly, and it knows that itโs not super serious, so it doesnt try to make things work that wouldnโt, and things the movie does do, it does it extremely well. The designs for literally every single part of the minecraft world are perfect, from the heat waves constantly visibile in the nether and over the different fires you see throughout, to the visual of the enderpearl, to even the lava chicken shack. It all feels ripped straight from the game, and there are details placed everywhere that truly display the crews love for what theyโre doing and what theyโre recreating. Even the music was really well done, including the silly jack black singin bits. They dont feel too overdone to where theyโre stupid, but theyโre still exaggerated in a way thatโs just enough to be realistic.
TLDR
Its a fun, simple movie that gives you a few laughs and has some amazing effects, the music is great, performances are good, and itโs clearly a labor of love, if you get the opportunity, watch it!
