This is a review in response to the majority of negative reviews that are tone policing this show. Yes the negative comments are majorly posted by men, and I can see why they are triggered to put it in layperson's terms. If you're in doubt, just look at their reviews for other shows and you will see a pattern there (yes I had a lot of time to waste today).
This is a sci-fi that's supposed to be "grounded", they have scientific reason for that super power. The show is clever and well written, the performances are immersive and the show as a whole does what it does really well. And I have no idea where those dudes are getting the "it feels forced" because it actually takes its time to build up to the powerful moments, and none of these moments in the current 4 episodes felt forced or rushed.
This is a good show well worth your time, unless your a cis male who previously complained about the little mermaid being black or displaying women in power and that being the focus of the show. If you're not convinced yet, re-read those reviews. You will find another pattern, they are all justifying their reviews with "I liked other shows about women in power" but this one ain't it... and proceed to say that the show is actually good but the problem in their reviews is how they portray women in this sci-fi/drama. I've read hundreds of reviews, and the majority contradicted themselves like this. If you are one of those, this review was written for you and about you. Cheers.
