Personally the actors selected ruined ability to watch & in my opinion, made two amazing professionals look less skilled. It’s the first movie for both I quickly turned off. They picked famous vs giving someone who actually fits said look/voice. I guess trying to appeal to those who didn’t grow up with Desi & Lucy when they were still active. Couldn’t get past the Australian accent and prosthetics on Nicole, she looked like cat woman, hiding her gorgeous face - still not looking like Lucy. Javier tried but again, it was like two people joking around pretending vs feeling as if you’re watching Desi & Lucy. I could list numerous who’d have fit better, Debra Messing for example. Honestly, my mother & grandmother could put on a red wig as we look similar to her and act out the parts better. I’m sure they spent a fortune for the name, why? Could have just CGI their faces & called it a day, would have felt the characters more. I’m all for changing things up with time & adding new…when they do the role justice. It’s almost like Kidman never truly studied Lucy or her mannerisms; not the stance, the arm movements, obv the expressions since they were plastic. At least Javier did that. Disappointed.
