I loved the first Gladiator but thought this was complete rubbish . The director’s liberties with history are forgivable in Glad 1 and Kingdom of Heaven but are ludicrous here, where the real story of Geta and Caracalla is so much more interesting than the load of guff here. Add wooden performances (save for Denzil Washington) no character development and the homicidal monkeys and the movie is dead on arrival. Some of the action scenes are good but are just “ sound and fury signifying nothing”, still its not as bad as “Napoleon “.
