In spite of myself (โDo I really want to watch a boy-girl-meet-cute soapy movie?โ), I loved the movie and found it charming, original, compelling and tough-sweet. I really liked Haley Lu Richardson in โWhite Lotusโ and liked her even more as Hadley in this movie. I found Ben Hardy as Oliver sweet but sexy in his own way, funny, appealing, real. It was a bit of a fantasy tale with their actually finding each other in London after deplaning without getting each otherโs contact info. And the Shakespeare-themed โmemorial serviceโ for Oliverโs mum was also pretty fantastical but surprisingly moving, low-key emotional, and even believable.(The costumes for this gathering were amazing and fun!)
I loved the reconciliation scene with Hadley and her dad and their wonderful father-daughter dance at his wedding reception.
The underlying theme of the whole adventure and fast-developing love story beating the odds was interesting, but the human emotions and ultimately loving connections were the real theme. It was a charming and engaging movie with compelling scenes, including unusual London backdrops.
