I have never seen the stage adaptation. I took my two daughters (10 and 7) to the cinema as part of their Christmas treat. They both dance and are musical. Within 10 minutes of the start I had nodded off, but my daughters stuck with it. I asked them what they thought of it at the end. The verdict was, "It was weird, disturbing and it had no story."
