(Chapters 1-4)
Look, don't get me wrong, i know going in with expectations usually ends in disappointment, as many star wars fans know from the sequels. Still, while this show still gives me goosebumps in places, I can't help but feel that the marketing of the series misled us. Where i expected the presence of Vader to be constant and overbearing while on the hunt for Obi-Wan, instead I find a new character, with no motivation, horrible acting in places, and terrible writing, inserted into this role. Reva feels like a character Disney desperately wants to work, despite the fact that she doesn't. She is forced into the plot where she shouldn't be, and is rife with convenience in order to stay "one step ahead" of Obi-Wan. It is infuriating by the fourth episode to see her in a spot that, truthfully, should be reserved for vader. I'll admit that I wanted an homage to the prequels, as I grew up with them and have always been a defender of them. And with the hype and media surrounding Hayden returning, I expected him to have more than a bit part. While i still thoroughly enjoy the series, I have a bad feeling that this trend will persist, and despite all that I love about it, disappointment will color my opinion going forward.
