This was my absolute lifesaver after reading the Gospel Topics Essays and it's footnotes on the church website. I lost my 'steadfast testimony of the LDS Church in 2 hours time. The CES Letter reinforced that I was correct in my logical thinking based on the facts I read in black and white. I realized I was not alone, still a good person, and that though I had been indoctrinated as a Mormon for over 40 years, I could move out and onward from my old way of thinking and believing. Honest, forthcoming, inquiring and respectful are words I think of when reading the CES letter. Also, I resonate with Mr. Runnells' need for answers, his earnest quest for truth and his disheartened tone in the CES Letter. I have been there too. It's the worst feeling to be betrayed by your beliefs and the Church. However, it gets SO much better and the CES Letter helps you learn the truth and move forward with positivity.
