I watched the first few episodes that have came out so far, and while the idea was there the execution wasn't. The show strays very far away from being anything Scooby Doo related except for the names of the characters and the town in which they lived. Now things could change as the show continues, and I would love to watch it. Though it doesnt really give me that nostalgia of watching Scooby Doo as a kid. I have no problems with the race swapping, but I have problems with how the tropes of these characters were changed. Almost all of these characters are nothing like who they originally were in old lore. Fred was always someone who was confident and supportive. He was also the leader of the group, but now hes a high tempered rich kid who only cares about himself. Velma was always the brains, but in the show she doesnt really do any mystery solving to the degree that she knows what shes doing. She too judgy to the point it's kind of annoying. Daphne was the one who was witty and kind, but now shes a self absorbed snob. Shaggy is way better at mystery solving than Velma is as hes actually found way more evidence than the titular character this show is supposed to be about. Whereas he was always the one who was comedic relief, and used as the bait to lure out and get the monsters trapped. I'm sure the show will get better and these characters will grow but this is just in a span of 4 episodes. I barely saw a change in any of them plus Scooby is no where to be found at all in the show. Maybe they get him later on but for this to be a show based on Scooby Doo I will say it's very disappointing to see such a classic series be turned into something like the Harley Quinn show but for Velma it doesnt work. Also if you're going to make it a mature tv show bases on this type of series it needs more horror like a dark comedy and just a tad bit more gory aspects. Plus this show is still a mask off kind of thing and I'm kind of tired of that I was actually expecting the gang to face something real for once similar to the live action movies and the mystery incorporated show, but it seems like this show is too real life. Also most of the murders or crimes committed by the bad guys they mostly always wanted money, so as to why a murderer is stealing brains from girls is beyond me, but it almost seems like theres a pattern here. It's that girls who are pretty physically are seen as dumb and so they are the ones getting their brains cut out which is interesting yet kind of stereotypical and idk if I like it. I was going to continue watching, but this show missed a lot of the core values of these characters and turned them into political agendas instead.
