From the moment the opening scene lit up the screen, I knew I had accidentally sat down for the wrong movie. Tonight was going to be something truly special, but I saw this instead. I have heard of the game but knew nothing about it, so I went in with no expectations—but what I experienced was beyond anything I could have imagined. This film isn’t just a video game adaptation; it makes absolutely no sense at all. I guess if you had played Minecraft the jokes would make sense. I did enjoy the washed up 80’s Aquaman guy, but the zoo realtor had nothing to contribute and should have been cut. The brother and sister were fine, but I really thought the brother’s highlighted creativity skills were going to save the day and they didn’t really amount to much. Jack Black was fine, he’s doing the same Jack Black thing he’s been doing for 25 years. The man can sing and I enjoyed seeing the Kung Fu Panda pull some Kung Fu moves on the zombies. Probably skip this one if you don’t know Minecraft.
