I’m really glad I read this book. As a mental health professional, my perspective and mindset towards people can sometimes begin to be attacked by a jadedness that comes from hearing stories of specific suffering which hasn’t personally plagued me. Dr. Cooke’s compassionate and loving drive to simply meet the needs of human beings was a much-needed reminder that everyone is our neighbor and worthy of love. His honest writing prioritizes love and the sanctity of every human life without becoming political, which is incredibly rare and so, so needed in our world today.
