This film portrays Jimi Hendrix as an incoherent, mumbling, volatile, violent domestic abuser. He was absolutely none of these things. Kathy Etchingham, the supposed victim of the abuse portrayed in this film, has strenuously denied that Hendrix was ever violent or abusive in any way, and even described him as “always gentle”. This film is a disgrace, it is exploitation at its very very worst. If you love Hendrix, avoid this sham of a film. If you value honesty and accuracy, avoid this film. If you have, like me, been a real victim of domestic abuse, avoid this disgraceful, vile, lie of a film

I’m (indirectly) quoting a critic here; “Shallow and glossy... the music’s loud... the cars are cool... 2/5”?!! These are all reasons to love this film! 3.5/5 minimum. Sack the critics

This is a terrible, terrible film. Done

Well this is 2 hours of your life you will never get back. Delivering monotone dialogue, using high-pitch tension music, and copying The Shining’s cinematography does not amount to a tense or scary film. No explanation about how the kid seems to able to do what he does to the family. And as for the “dilemma” faced by the dad, not a bit of it. The choice for any parent is blatantly obvious right from the outset. It’s almost like it’s TRYING to be style over substance, but there isn’t enough style to get away with it! Tense? Not for a single minute of the long and tedious 121 of them. Dark? Not enough substance to be dark. Scary? It was more scary when Peppa Pig lost her wellies. Boring? Absolutely!! Sack the critics

Put simply, what a film this is! I’m not a massive boxing fan, but this film makes me like it. It draws you in to far more of their lives than just the boxing aspect. The family dynamics and politics, the split loyalty that is demanded from all of us by our family, our partners, and those we work with. Sensational performances from Wahlberg, Adams, and Bale. And the supporting cast are equally as incredible. And what blows my mind most is that Christian Bale played this part smack bang in between The dark knight and The dark knight rises! Incredible actor. Brilliant film. Sack the critics
