In my opinion, I had skepticism that it was going to be bad but I was still excited for the movie because I love the book so much. It doesn't live up to what the book is, or match anything close to the book except for the ending. For example the doctor hugely meeting was halfway through the movie instead of near the start and in the movie it was related to the Medi talker which I didn't like this. Also, the dad took over the mom's role as of being the supportive one in the mom was just mostly gone. Mrs V also didn't teach Melody a thing Mrs V did not teach Melody how to roll over Mrs the didn't upgrade her talking board Mrs V didn't help her program the Medi talker or anything Miss V does in the book. I don't know if anybody else has read this book but I have read this book so many times I can't even count anymore and the movie was so incredibly not even close to the books standards that I just don't even think it should have been made, especially with the delays of the movie.
