I was so disappointed with the overall message of this movie. Luke has a HUGE problem with problem solving and decision making. For starts he never called out his friend even thou he knew the guy was an idiot, he only apologize in behalf of them but never for himself. Luke was clearly still mad that his dad cut him off after all he did, that displays he lack of self awareness and problem taking accountability for his actions. The way that he treated her and DIDN'T apologize is beyond me and was necessary a brief moment of vulnerability for her to believe that he was someone worth keep around and the had sex (not judging her bc he's hot) but them in the very next morning he pull out the MOST douche move that he could. He came back and got mad at her for looking out for him and call his dad...like, what? he didn't ask how she was feeling with her friend dying in combat (friend that wasn't legally allowed to drink a beer but died in the war btw). I know she didn't know but HE wasn't aware that she didn't know.
after that the plot repeated itself, he was treating her like she was inferior e she was pretending that she didn't like him (because her values were too strong).
The bath scene.....HE WAS WALKING AROUND THE HOUSE AND COULDN'T TAKE A SHOWER BY HIMSELF?????????
he knew that she and her family were in danger because of him and didn't have the decency to warn her...and was all forgive and forget, like, what??? where are those strong VALUES girl??
the hearing?? HOW the military took the word of a drug dealer in that case?idc how it started but it WAS a legit marriage and prove the contrary would be harder than that. AGAIN he showed that his making decision skills are off.
