I just got done re-watching the original Gladiator after seeing this sequel yesterday. Wow, what difference! For reference, my wife and I were leaving the theatre last evening and we both turned to each other and exclaimed at the same time…”that sucked!” The original has all these epic scenes, army battles, gladiator fights. 2 is all CGI. Actors in front of green screens. Gladiators fighting goofy monkey/wolf creatures….riding a hokey looking rhinoceros in the colosseum. Even the small street scenes and indoor venues look like CGI. Characters staring off into space as they recite Virgil. Boring, predictable plot. Towards the end, the old character (that sits around all day drinking wine and plotting his takeover) has a showdown battle with the gladiator dude who has been fighting, like 6 warriors at a time and making it look like childs play … and almost beats him at one point. Yeah, you can afford to wait on this one till it’s available streaming.

Best Mike Myers ever! I think the plot and the silly jokes are genius but can see that they may not be for everybody. Fits 2022 perfectly.
