I read a review stating the book takes place after WWII. Ummm, no. It takes place in the 1920's. I found the book riveting. Very sensual and a bit of a romantic roller coaster with a lot of other serious themes thrown in. I am guessing the reviewer that said they were uncomfortable reading it has trouble reading about same sex relationships. Not sure. Same sex relationships do exist though and are a theme in this book.
