I truly do not understand how people think this a good book. It started off promising and then it just became one big mess. The plot was so convoluted and confusing by the end nothing made sense. The romance and mystery were both lacklustre. It seemed like the writer had too many ideas and couldn't make up their mind on what sort of book this should be...

A review I read compared this to The Inheritance Cycle (Eragon) but it is absolutely nothing like it. It is so repetitive, confusing and basic all at the same time. I had to force myself to finish it just in case it suddenly got better but no. The characters are so unlikeable that you don't care what happens to them. If you want to read 90% unintelligible fighting scenes this is the book for you.
