Compelling and gripping, Catching Teller Crow is a masterpiece devised by the Kwaymullina siblings. A part ghost story, part mystery, part horror story which is delivered half in verse, half in prose, follows the intertwining lives of Isobel Catching, the witness of a terrible murder, and Beth Teller, a 15-year-old ghost.
Beth Teller has died, and her father, a detective, is the only one who
can see and hear her- he’s drowning in grief. However, now a murder
needs investigating, which could help Beth’s father regain his feet and
forget his loss. But as Beth and her father swirl deeper into the investigation, they meet Isobel Catching, a witness with a dark past. And her mysterious tale of a strange Crow- weaved in with the tragic, horrific mistreatment of Catching’s Aboriginal ancestors- reveals secrets at the heart of the town Beth thought she knew…
A touching tale, I would strongly recommend this book, although the ending of the book was quite quick and I would've (and this is based completely off personal preference) preferred a more drawn out description at the end. I would recommend this book to 12+ and people who enjoys ghost stories, as this story has a complex plot that could be hard for younger readers or readers who aren’t used to complex plots to understand. This is a wonderfully told story.
