THIS GAME SHREDS!๐ค๐๐ฎ
Combat:10/10
insanely satisfying. Its difficulty (Which is adjustable in real time without having to return to menu) is my favourite style of challenge. Enemies will become less worthy opponents because you have become superior in it extremely versatile combat as a player. Rather than investing attribute points in a broken area of a skill tree that removes the threat of the enemy entirely. Instead, the player must learn the nature of each weapon class, forge each weapon class in a way that suits your individual combat preferences, understand each enemy's unique traits, weaponry and armour. Enemies WILL punish you for making mistakes that you know yourself at the time of defeat "I should know better, I was reckless and I deserve defeat". It has the perfect amount of rewarding gore (which is something we rarely see anymore in modern gaming. It's either gore just for the hell of it for shock value, which becomes irrelevant and boring. Or its absent entirely for the karens) So! The gore reward system is incredible Because! Depending on the weapon you use, what strike is executed, the awareness of the enemy at the time, the momentum of the strike itself and finally... The enemies weapon, stance, armour and size are all the factors that are considered upon delivering the outcome of mutilation.. Genius.
Graphics: 8.5/10
They are unique in the sense that.. I was NOT expecting this game to be what it is. This is because, these graphics are usually only seen in games that are family friendly. But also, not entirely commited to the anime visuals to the extent of immersive sacrifice. The amount of realism graphic design is just as present as the latter. For me, this makes it the perfect blend of a bright world and brutal atmosphere. Perfect for my ADHD ๐ค๐
Character design: 9/10
Aran is an absolute legend with an extremely well executed balance of being a brute, a hero, an asshole AND a friend. He's is dismissively patient to his allies. Which on paper, makes no sense and sounds like a complete mistake in character design. Somehow, it's the perfect choice for our heros profile.
HE'S A MAN! AND! HE'S A MAN OF MASCULINITY!
I think we can all agree that we haven't seen THAT for a while. I have no issues with powerhouse female protagonists in video games but dude... The completely removal of male protagonists that are presented as men has been very disappointing. It is such a relief to finally be given back this kind of male characteristics without the gaming community demanding feminine traits and the developer presenting a "politically correct" protagonist who is scripted to be walking on eggshells throughout the entire story whilst making comments of being "woke" as players are in the middle of being immersed in a world of combat and male responsibility to protect and destroy a threat to humanity.
Final rating: 93% This game absolutely SHREDS!
