Echoing what a lot of people are saying here, the theme is how one's destiny can be altered from one simple change in time. The main characters are annoying at times yes, but also probably more "real" than those we meet in traditional rom coms. The awkwardness is because in the real world people can be awkward, have social insecurities, flaws, etc. Honestly the more times I watched Jack Farthing's character the more I felt sorry for him, and at first he just seemed like a crazy stalker. And the more I saw of Eleanor Tomlinson's character the more I disliked her. It was the simple changes that affected my perception of them. My only complaint is that we really only got two scenarios verses several and I think I would have enjoyed it more if they had focused more of the plot on repeating the day. That entire part felt rushed and lacking. Otherwise I really enjoyed the film.
