Redeeming Love is by far my favorite book. I have been waiting to see this movie for years. I wish I could sit down with Francine Rivers and ask her why she let the book be rewritten like this. I liked the characters and the acting was arguably good but the writing and directing was not good. The scenes chosen, the scene transitions and the plot was not clear or well built soon. SPOILER ALERT: I can’t believe that Francine let them take out the most important Christian parts of the book like Hosea never calling her Angel, Hosea teaching her the word and hymns, Angel telling him what she had done and him getting angry and forgive her, and most importantly, Angel singing on stage and becoming naked as a symbol of becoming a new creation at the end. She can get naked in the prostitution scenes but she can’t show skin for the most important scene in the book? I feel like the movie inserted a lot of symbolism and took out the true love shown by God. The book is so much deeper than this movie did it justice. I’m disappointed.
