Disclaimer - I've read all the books and am a decent fan of them. I am not an expert by any means, though. While the first season was a bit disappointing, I feel the show started to hit a stride mid-way through Season 2.
I started to see stronger representations of beloved characters and how I imagined them coming to life. This isn't a full book representation. It has never tried to be. No screen adaptation could ever fully capture the genius and masterful (at times infuriating) craft of world building and plot driving that was Robert Jordan's work. But, as I have just finished S3, E6, I can tell you that the cultures and flashes of the show bring a smile to my face.
Glimmers and moments shine through as odes to the source material. It helps me remember moments of the books and draws me in enough to tempt me to read them all through again. You can tell the showrunners love the books and respect them, even if they cannot share so much of the nuances.
Props to the actors for going all-in this season. The further in you go, the more you get sucked into the world of WOT.
