The original Omen is the only film in the Horror Genre that has really scared me, so this peaked my interest. The First Omen is very predictable from the outset as to where the story was heading. The director did try to put some scenes in the film which make you jump but these did not even make me flinch, the movie itself does somewhat drag on at the end.
The catholic church is scared of the more secular society so you can see why some of the more radicals portrayed in the film try to engineer the coming of the Anti-Christ to scare the faithful back to them, as they have done so over the century's with the policy on marriage and children born out of wedlock, it's all about maintaining and swelling the numbers.
There are points in the film that do pay homage to the 1976 film which is a nice touch especially the payoff at the end with the introduction of an photo of Gregory Peck and the reference to Damien. Not a bad film just an addition to the series me thinks.
