I suspect this is a propaganda piece, it taps into things we all want,...to be a bit slimmer, to have more physical endurance and strength, to have more sexual prowess, to live longer..... much like a 'snake oil' salesman would do. If the claims made were true I would expect the following
1. 99.9% of elite athletes would be vegan, the idea that some athletes have tapped into this 'special' knowledge that gives them the edge is frankly ridiculous. The idea that the multi billion pound sports industry would some how be controlled by the meat industry made me smile.
2. Viagra wouldn't make many sales, some bright spark would have come up with the idea of marketing a vegan meal for two, and wayhey, a top amorous evening will ensue. They haven't because I strongly suspect advertising standards would not allow the claim.
What the plight of the black rhino (which incidently I consider an important issue) is doing on a film about sports nutrition... I am still perplexed...same goes for the meat industry and a dig against clinicians, sports and their historical links to tobacco industry....I suspect it fits in with a political narrative...
Having said all that, if it encourages people to consider what they are eating and favour more fresh vegetables in place of a diet of processed junk food, then that has to be good thing.
