Hosseini rhetorically describes the characters, binding them with each other through, emotions, submission and loyalty, he describes the political and socio-economic difficulties of Afghans under soviet regime; and the after-effects of talibans undertaking and raising children alone without any feminine care.
He sheds light upon the most impactful characters of "baba" whose true essence of strength and benevolence becomes a beacon of light in the upbringing of his son;
and, "Hassan", the unwavering valour and faith for aamir. Moreover, the story further revolves around the seperation from loved ones, courage, war, fraternity between two brothers, the pakhtun culture, and valuing kinship ties, dignity, the bond between two lovers, culture, heritage, race, tyranny by talibans. Amir's guilt when he couldn't take a stand for hassan and him finding out that hassan was his half brother; from finding his son sohrab and planning to give him to a foster-care to actually adopting him & returning to home land to landing in America to escape the fear. Aamir making up for his past, through adopting sohrab and the difficulties he encounters in the way with taliban.
The book had me in total awe, it was a roller-coaster of emotions right from the start, to conclude this up, the author ultimately conveys through the characters is that we as humans; commit sins, but it is how we choose to live.. each day we are given the opportunity to live a life—however, it remains upto us whether we choose to live a life based on cowardice and societal norms; not accepting the reality— or learn to stand up against the injustice. We may die, as humans, but our character, morals, and values we instill in our children, lives up through generations.
