Can we ever really leave our past behind sums up what this movie is all about. We can try and create a new life, and maybe even succeed in the eyes of observers, but our past is part of us and remains forever with us. Tom (Viggo Mortensen) is living a quiet life with his wife and two children, a teenage son and a young daughter, and becomes involved in an unexpected event which thrusts him into the National limelight. He is exposed and his past threatens to destroy the new life he has created.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The complexity of the main character struggling with guilt, confusion and a determination to chart a different, more honest future for herself is beautifully demonstrated in one of my favourite authorโs exquisite writing style. I am looking forward to the release of Earth next year.

It is now one of my most favourite books. I laughed out loud many times and shed tears at other times. Beautifully developed characters and a wonderful storyline about the complex nature of families of all descriptions and the ties that bind and divide us.
