The world building in this anime is absolutely amazing. The stories of the 'drone' 86 Juggernauts are familiar and yet heartbreaking. Young, Idealistic Lena is made the commander of the 86 drones in the War without Casualties but like all things in this war, she learns even the name is a lie. The battles of the AI drones (Legion) vs surviving humans in spiderlike tanks are visually stunning. The Orwellian manipulation of the Republic of San Marigold population to believe all is well, rings very true to today, as does the threat of an AI army of real drones. I am not going to give any spoiler but when you realize what the AI are doing to survive... You will shudder. I am beyond sad that this anime was cancelled.
