In resonse to Paul Haynes: If you read the book of Genesis, chapter 1, vs 3-5 says that God brought into existence light on the FIRST day. As a matter of fact the Bible states that God is light. The trees and plants were created mature and seed bearing with flowers and fruit on the third day. If you go on to read vs14-19 it tells of God creating the lights in the sky and their purpose on the fourth day. The sun, moon and stars were created to mark time as well as provide light to the earth, but light was already a part of creation beforehand. Hope that helps you.
