Travis Reidy Wilson basically summarized my entire views of this film. It sucked. Some b-list cheesy horror films while not Oscar worthy are still good and fun to watch. This was not one of them. It could have been good. They missed so many opportunities. See Travis' review below which I agree with. I couldn't have said it better myself. There was no background info and nothing remotely scary about this film. Filter for one star: Story telling was Weak. Basically a Family goes to a deceased Grandparent's house in the Woods. Encounter a werewolf and lock themselves in the house only for the Dad to be be bit, Kill the other Werewolf (who turns out to be the Grandad) and the family locks themselves in the cabin again until the Dad werewolf turns on them and they kill him... The End. No story, no plot, no info about the Grandad who owned the Cabin or the Werewolf Virus. Also the only other character (Derek) the Guy who's guarding his home with a Sniper who has lived there his whole life and gives the exposition about how the Woods are dangerous and you shouldn't go out at night decides to get into the family's car to show them the way to the cabin just before nighttime! He gets killed straight away due to the lack of taking his own advice. And the Grandad werewolf can't jump more than 3ft to reach the family who are standing on top of a greenhouse is actually comical. Unlike some movies being so bad that their Good, this was just plain Bad.

I loved it. Very much an amazing summertime horror movie with an interesting twist. Some scenes were gruesome and I had to turn away. Overall, it was terrifying. Reminds me of a 2006 Italian horror film called Last House in the Woods or Il Bosco Fuori, only A Classic Horror Story is much scarier. I also love that it takes place in Calabria where my mother was born. Every time I am in Calabria, I say they should make a horror film there! I also think the bad reviews are undeserved. You really have to appreciate the horror genre, in particular old school slashers to get this film. Horror films are meant to be a bit cheesy and will never rise to the level of dramas. The cast in them will never win best actor or best actress, but the point is to entertain not to be groundbreaking. Personally, I prefer horror. I also love the cinematography here and the ending is quite beautiful and can definitely be appreciated if you are familiar with Italian summers on the beach.
