Death Note is undoubtedly one of the greatest pieces of fiction ever created, and if you disagree, you're lying to yourself. Sure, there might be other anime that can compete in various ways, but in my opinion, Death Note stands above the rest.
The story follows Light Yagami, a extremely smart high school student who stumbles upon a mysterious notebook that allows him to kill anyone whose name he writes in it. He has an idea on how he can use this notebook for the greater good, he decides to kill all evil in the world using this notebook.
One of the most amazing aspects of Death Note is its philosophical depth. The show features strong references to the Bible, cleverly putting them into its narrative, which gives it an even more interesting plot. The characters aren't just props or side notes, they all have meaningful roles that push the plot forward. Unlike many shows that only focus on the protagonist and antagonist, every character here plays a crucial part in the storyโs progression.
Many people criticize the ending, claiming it was terrible and that Light shouldn't have died. You would never expect the main character to die in the end which adds to the amount of plot twists that are in this show. It should have been expected that light would not win in the end, since the villain never wins.
The animation in the show is amazing and the art style fits the plot and theme so much. This show changed my perspective of life and how i view it. Therefore, I feel that it is one of the best anime's ever created.
I hope that I have convinced you to watch this masterpiece.
