I honestly donโt understand the hype around Anora. The movie is painfully slow, repetitive, and predictable from start to finish. The story lacks depth, the characters are completely hollow, and the attempts at humor fall flat. It tries to be emotional in the last few minutes, but by then, itโs so obvious whatโs going to happen that it has zero impact.
The lead actress? She doesnโt do anything remarkable. She dances, she whines, she complains, and then she cries for 20 seconds at the end. Thatโs it. And somehow, this is supposed to be an Oscar-worthy performance?
I kept waiting for something interesting to happen, but it never did. This is one of those films that critics love for some reason, but for regular viewers, itโs just a drag to sit through. If youโre looking for a truly engaging and emotional movie, Anora is not it.
