Spoilers ahead. The main storyline is great. Thereโs a diverse range of gameplay options. However, thereโs some overwhelmingly bad concepts in a game basically about reincarnation. Bethesda has gone downhill in my opinion ever since Morrowind and there is no denying that fact. Yes, gameplay and graphics have improved over the decades, but thereโs a glaring problem with RPGs these days: FREEDOM. In a game that immerses us in opportunities and variability in options we are limited more than ever before. What Iโm talking about is the freedom Morrowind have so freely: game breaking choices. Give players that freedom to ruin their game, ESPECIALLY in a game defined by your ability to reincarnate. If I choose to be evil in my first play through I want to be able to charge into constellation and murder everyone except Vasco, commandeer the Eye and find the artifacts on my own. If I get pissed while being deputized by the Freestar Collective (which prompted this review) I want to be able to shoot the damn Marshal in the head and end the entire quest line for that play through. Reincarnation defined this game, the lack of freedom of choice and ability to control the outcomes of the gameplay is what is holding it back. And probably the lack of survival/hardcore mode. Seriously if this game was given the Morrowind treatment it would have an undying fanbase. I was incredibly disappointed after finishing the main story line.
