The show's slower pace, gentler music, and editing set it apart from others (I did not miss jarring music and 'pumped up' talk!). However, the conversations are often repetitive, and there is a bit too much focus on how well her family is doing and self-promotion about how great the designs are, which makes it a real turn-off for me.
More importantly, this is yet another of so many US shows that don't attempt to be more sustainable. Things are constantly demolished and thrown out without any attempt to give them a second life, from good-quality kitchens that could be easily reused to windows, etc.
The designer's own house speaks volumes (literally even) about her attitude towards the value and purpose of design, something that US home renovation shows repeatedly fail to address.
