A visually chic, nearly non-stop action comedy loaded with violently dark humor and stellar performances by actors clearly having a blast playing a cast of quirky (but capable) assassins. The "Twins" (played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Brian Tyree Henry) in particular steal the show with their on-screen chemistry and brotherly banter, more than earning their fan-favorite status. Shout out to Joey King as well for her performance as a delightfully devious but desperate villain, seamlessly snapping to and from her harmless little girl act.
Outside of one remarkably heart-wrenching scene part of the way through, it's largely cartoonish in its story and characters (and depiction of Japan, which definitely left some depth to be desired), but it seems to know it. Not for everyone and likely won't scratch that John Wick itch, but if you want some great banter, some fantastically wacky but crisp fight choreography, and some colorful comic book-y visuals, you can't go wrong with this style-over-substance flick.
tl;dr Come for the flashy, Deadpool-y violence, stay for the Twins (who deserve a spin-off to themselves).
