Two people meet by chance on a breathtakingly lovely Caribbean island. Both are on the rebound from previous relationships. Their chemistry is great, they fall in love, they get engaged, theyโre a wonderful happy couple and a joy to watch.
Move them to Devon, a bleak, cold, gray, village filled with sarcastic and sour-faced residents. Now add personal problems - theyโve spent their last dime on IVF, he wants children, she canโt carry a pregnancy.
Each episode has her sitting alone at the beach, wrapped in a jacket staring out at the cold water, on the verge of tears. Children play in the background to remind her of what sheโll never have. He is reduced to investigating pathetic local crimes and finding ways to avoid going home. They look old, tired, and miserable.
Who thought this was a good idea for a series? Itโs just depressing and painful to watch.
