if you're looking to read a dystopian book id suggest you pick something other than this, it might look dystopian but it is way more romance-centric. unfortunately the romance isn't that good either. it's very cliche and fanfiction-y (and even then most fanfic i read is better than this), very "good girl y/n x bad boy criminal" type thing. one bit that bothers me the most is that june falls in love with day RIGHT AWAY and then still has feelings for him after finding out he killed her brother like if you caught feelings that quickly you can get over them about as fast 😭 in terms of the dystopia it's not developed out very well and doesn't make any interesting points about the world we live in overall not great, may be fun if you like YA novels and stuff. but if you want dystopian or romance check out some other stuff because this doesn't do either very well

i’m surprised i’m writing this since i love her other albums so much but… here we are. this was so disappointing for me on so many levels so i’ll just list the issues i had - most songs sounded the same and were very forgettable. that really says a lot considering that on all her other albums, each track is memorable and unique - sounds like she was trying to use as many long words as possible just to sound “poetic” — seriously how did we go from folklore and evermore to this :’) - a bunch of cringey or strange lyrics too - felt like too much. there were so many songs and they were all so similar it was hard to get through them all i liked a few songs (like so long london, icdiwabh, and the prophecy) but i haven’t gotten through many bc of what i said before
