This movie blindsided me. I did not expect such a powerful ending. I do not have many favorite movie titles in my library of movies, but this one is in my hall of fame. I suspect because the moral of the story is so close to home for me.
The animation was amazing and the actors, though not well known other then a few, were truly captivating. I immediately fell in love with the characters and their wayward belief system. Then following Yuri I immediately felt a connection to her situation.
There was an incident in particular that I will not spoil for you readers, but it forces you to imagine amazing things about how the interpretation of the legend of Ochi began and has been told throughout the generations. The science behind the Ochi's uniqueness and how it all pans out has become a constant but nagging experience in the after taste of watching this movie. I find myself intrigued to see a sequel.
The very well known faces I seen in the movie really did an amzing job supporting the main actress. The authenticity of the setting and plot was amazingly accurate and the story was told very well between characters. Could this story have been told any better? This story was amazing. I only wish they gave more insight into the Lengend of the Ochi. It really intrigued me, but I supposed it would have pulled from the story at hand. There just must be a sequel.
